Men are tough to shop for. It's a widely known phenomenon that is true for just about every man. At least, in my family it is always a struggle to find something meaningful and fun that the male recipient will enjoy and appreciate. Like lots of families, we pick names at Christmastime to guide our gift giving. I have found, over the years, that fashionable men and those who are image conscious appreciate classic gifts while the more eccentric male members of my family enjoy something just a tad unusual.
Fashion accessories might seem like a woman centric gift, but if the man on your gift list likes looking sharp, a nice tie can truly be the perfect gift. Other items you can consider along these lines include cuff links and wristwatches. How you decide which type whether than what to give your recipient depends on their personal preference and taste.
For younger men, a fashion accessory as simple as shoelaces can be a fun gift. Go to a novelty store and you are sure to find a variety of fun and funny shoelace options. If the young man on your list likes pimping out his kicks, neon shoelaces are always a favorite.
Eating is a favorite past time of the average man. Women tend to enjoy the foods they find pleasurable most while men appreciate an adventure on their plate. Look into things like beer flavored mustard and pickled pig feet to give your male family member a challenging meal.
Computer technology is a great gift, too, and is always popular among men. Make sure you don't buy something they already have by checking with their spouse, parents or children first. There is nothing worse than a gift you don't need!
In fact, it's usually a good idea to ask the women before you buy for the men. With family gift giving, I always send an email to my recipients family members to ask what they know the man in question needs or wants. This will also help you avoid items the already have or are uninterested in.
One thing to remember is that most older men really aren't too concerned with the gift they get. Instead, they are involved for sake of tradition and the act of giving. Something simple will not be looked down upon.
Regardless of who is on your list, gift ideas for men are few and far between. Christmas, birthdays, Father's Day and more all present you with the responsibility to get just the right gift for the man you love. If you are stumped as far as what to get, ask the women who know him best what he would be happiest receiving on the big day. As always, give your gift with a heart full of love and all will be well.
