Four Memory Enhancement Techniques

Memory functions involve the retaining of information that is learned. The brain need to record all as information goes through the process. The brain may have recorded the information but when they are recalled by the memory, people will have to think of those other things that were going on. Distractions may occur while the brain records the information resulting to the wrong recording of contents. There are several memory improvement techniques which bring our focus to what we want to retain and cause us to correctly absorb it in our brains. Learn how to improve your memory through healthy activities.

Chunking
This technique is one of the oldest and widely used to improve retention.
To improve retention of information, people can make use of this technique. People are given smaller portions of information to be memorized and retrieved. This technique is often used in education as children are learning to decode words. They form words from certain sounds or from chunks of information that are classified or put together. Those who have some difficulties with their social security number may use this method. The nine numbers may be divided into three, two and four format to memorize it. Structuring the information will make it easier for the brain to process and to retain.

Rhyme, Rhythm, Repetition, and Melody
Rhyming is another technique that can be used to memorize information. The brain may be able to retrieve the information if people say their rhymes or if they are able to connect it with some things that are familiar. Remembering the information will not be a problem when tunes are included. It may help people to retain information better like how kids memorize and remember the letters of the alphabet by singing it through their nursery song. Memorizing concepts may be done after several repetition processes or until the brain is able to store and retrieve it easily. Another way how to increase your memory is enough exercise everyday.

Acrostics
Those who would like to use this technique should get only the first letters of the words listed so that they may be able to form a particular word. This is particularly used in concepts such as the proper order of operations that need to follow in solving mathematical equations that involve multiplication, division, addition and subtraction.

Write a List
Making a list will definitely help people to remember everything that they have to do for the day. The lists that are made should be pinned or placed in strategic areas so people will not forget what to do next after each task. Making a master list or simply writing the ideas down on a whiteboard will also help people to work on their specific lists of things to do or to accomplish later and this would also ensure them that they do not miss anything.
